Akali leader Tejbeer Singh was arrested in Amritsar, Punjab, on Sunday, after being found in possession of 110 grams of heroin. The arrest took place during a major operation conducted by the counterintelligence agency. Singh, who also serves as the Amritsar District President of the Students Organisation of India (SOI), is known to have close ties to prominent leaders of the Akali Dal party.
In addition to the seized heroin, authorities also confiscated a car and Rs 3 lakh in drug money from Singh. The arrest followed the previous detention of Gurjeet Singh in connection with the same case.
Meanwhile, another significant operation by the SSOC Fazilka resulted in the recovery of 20 kilograms of heroin and the arrest of two individuals. These suspects had retrieved the drug consignment from Village Hasta Kalan after it was air-dropped using drones. An FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act, and an ongoing investigation aims to apprehend more individuals involved in the drug supply chain.
