Indian carrier Air India has confirmed it will operate an alternative aircraft to transport passengers and crew from Magadan to San Francisco promptly. This comes after one of its planes, carrying 216 passengers, was diverted on its route from Delhi to San Francisco to Magadan due to an engine malfunction on Tuesday. According to Air India, the diverted plane landed safely. The stranded passengers and crew are currently being accommodated in Magadan hotels as officials plan their next move. Local authorities in Magadan are providing all the necessary support to ensure the passengers are transported as soon as possible. In April, an Air India flight from Chennai to Singapore was also redirected to Malaysia due to weather-related issues.
