London, March 28 – British researchers have developed a novel artificial intelligence (AI) tool that can predict a person’s risk of a lethal heart rhythm with 80 per cent accuracy. Ventricular arrhythmia (VA) is a heart rhythm disturbance that can lead to sudden death if not treated immediately. The AI tool, known as VA-ResNet-50, was created by a team from the University of Leicester, UK, and has shown promising results in identifying individuals at high risk of ventricular arrhythmias. Professor Andre Ng, the lead researcher, highlighted the importance of this tool in accurately assessing patients’ risk and providing potentially life-saving treatment. The study, published in the European Heart Journal – Digital Health, sheds light on the potential of AI in revolutionizing cardiac care and improving patient outcomes.
