The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has implemented advanced technical efforts, including AI systems, to simplify entry procedures for pilgrims coming to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj rituals. This year’s program has introduced a number of integrated projects, aimed at facilitating comfortable and safe journeys for pilgrims from all over the world. SDAIA has worked in collaboration with different governmental agencies to digitize the process of Hajj and improve digital empowerment for all government agencies working during the Hajj period.
SDAIA has been providing advanced technical support to facilitate the pilgrims’ travelling procedures from different countries of the world to Saudi Arabia through the Makkah Road initiative. Also, SDAIA assists in providing services to pilgrims during their arrival at the Kingdom’s air, sea, and land ports.
Apart from providing logistical services to pilgrims during the pilgrimage period, SDAIA provides technical support for 15 ports in Saudi Arabia as well as the sorting sites and security control centers. SDAIA has also launched several digital services, such as the mobile device “Banan” and the Tawakklna app that help verify the validity of permits and simplify identification procedures, among others.
This year, the Makkah Road initiative has been extended to include seven countries, namely Morocco, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkey and Côte d’Ivoire. The SDAIA has also ensured that pilgrim data is collected before they enter Saudi Arabia, thus reducing the waiting time for registration.
Dr. Abdullah Bin Sharaf Alghamdi, the President of SDAIA, has appreciated the efforts of his team and other relevant departments in ensuring a smooth and hassle-free pilgrimage experience for all pilgrims. This is aligned with the objectives of the Pilgrim Experience Program, Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 program.
