With the continuous advancements in medicine, cancer treatment has come under everyone’s reach. According to US oncologist Dr. Istvan Petak, technological advancements are swiftly changing the way cancer is treated. He predicts that by 2039, clinical trials will be replaced by a medical algorithm system created by artificial intelligence (AI) to provide effective and precise medications to patients.
Addressing the two-day conference ‘Innovation in Oncology 2024 and Beyond’ in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Petak highlighted the significance of AI in identifying the specific gene combinations present in cancer patients. With over 10,000 case studies and 34,000 algorithms developed in AI, cancer treatment can become more accurate and tailored to each patient’s needs.
Dr. Petak also emphasized the importance of exercise in reducing the risk of cancer. Studies have shown that individuals who exercise for half an hour, five days a week, can reduce their cancer risk by 50%. During exercise, the muscles in the body produce a chemical that inhibits the growth of cancer cells. Conversely, certain dietary habits, such as consuming excessive carbohydrates and meat, can increase insulin levels and potentially raise the risk of cancer.
Furthermore, Senior Medical Oncologist Dr. SP Srivastava revealed that a new vaccine has been developed to prevent cervical, throat, anal canal, and skin cancers. The vaccine is recommended for both men and women, as well as children aged 9 years and older. Ideally, the vaccine should be administered between the ages of 9 and 36. Taking the vaccine in groups of 4-5 people can be more cost-effective and offer protection against multiple diseases.
These advancements in cancer treatment and prevention offer hope for millions of individuals worldwide. The integration of AI algorithms, a focus on individualized gene combinations, exercise, and preventive vaccines can revolutionize the way we approach cancer care. As we look towards the future, it is crucial to embrace these innovations and continue supporting further research and development in the field of oncology.
