ADUSA Distribution, the supply chain operations company of Ahold Delhaize USA, has announced the successful conversion of its new distribution center in Chester, NY, marking a significant step toward the establishment of an integrated self-distribution network. The facility, previously operated by C&S Wholesale Grocers, LLC (C&S), now serves Stop & Shop and Hannaford stores in the region and is expected to handle approximately 65 million cases of products annually.

The conversion of the distribution center on Elizabeth Drive was completed on July 30, and it boasts impressive features including nearly 600,000 square feet of multi-temperature and freezer warehousing space. With over 350 trailer spots and close to 100 dock doors, the site ensures the smooth and efficient movement of goods. Furthermore, ADUSA Distribution, ADUSA Transportation, and other third-party labor providers, including C&S, employ nearly 500 staff members at the facility, making it a significant hub of employment in the area.

Sanja Krajnovic, EVP of ADUSA Distribution & Transportation, expressed enthusiasm about the addition of the Chester distribution center to their supply chain network. She emphasized that the conversion is a critical milestone in the company’s transition to a self-distributed network. Krajnovic also highlighted ADUSA Distribution’s commitment to delivering on its mission of providing reliable service to the brands they serve, ensuring that customers can trust the products of these brands wherever and whenever they choose to shop.

The distribution center in Chester strengthens ADUSA Distribution’s already expansive supply chain network, which effectively serves Ahold Delhaize USA companies on the East Coast. In 2022 alone, the network handled over 1.2 billion cases. The addition of the Chester facility further solidifies ADUSA Distribution’s position as a major player in the grocery retail supply chain industry, given the company’s involvement with prominent omnichannel grocery brands like Food Lion, Giant Food, The GIANT Company, Hannaford, and Stop & Shop.

Sammy Tsang, Director of Operations for the Chester distribution center, expressed confidence in the team and their ability to provide excellent service to their brand partners. Tsang emphasized ADUSA Distribution’s commitment to being an asset to the local community in Chester.
