Adobe Unveils Project Stardust: AI-Powered Image Editing Revolution
LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Adobe (Nasdaq: ADBE) introduced Project Stardust, an innovative new image editing engine that utilizes generative AI to revolutionize image editing capabilities. This exciting development was revealed at the Adobe MAX conference, the world’s largest creativity conference. Alongside Project Stardust, Adobe also showcased a collection of early-stage innovations utilizing generative AI and 3D technologies, spanning various creative domains such as design, fashion, photo, video, audio, and 3D applications. These 11 inventions were featured in Adobe’s annual Sneaks showcase, where engineers and research scientists provide a glimpse into prototype ideas that could potentially enhance Adobe’s widely-used products.
Project Stardust represents a significant step forward in image editing, enabling users to easily select, edit, and even delete complex elements within any image. This new editing engine simplifies the process, making it more intuitive, accessible, and time-efficient for all users. For example, Project Stardust allows users to select individuals in a photograph and seamlessly move them to different positions within the composition, while filling in the background where they were previously standing. Users can also make adjustments to elements like the color of clothing or the position of individuals, treating flat images as if they have layers.
Gavin Miller, the vice president and fellow of Adobe Research, expressed excitement about the Sneaks showcase, calling it a can’t-miss, fan-favorite moment at MAX every year. Miller emphasized Adobe’s dedication to creators and highlighted the potential of generative AI and 3D technologies to enhance creative expression and reshape what Adobe tools can accomplish.
Additionally, Adobe announced the commercial availability of Adobe Firefly, a family of creative generative AI models. This expansion of the Firefly range demonstrates the continued growth and versatility of generative AI beyond image generation. These new Sneaks provide powerful examples of how generative AI can redefine workflows for video, audio, animation, and motion graphics, significantly reducing post-production time.
