Adastec Corp and AECOM have joined forces in a partnership aimed at enhancing global deployment of automated buses. Adastec, a US-based automation solutions provider, and AECOM, an infrastructure consulting firm, have united to address challenges faced by modern cities, including traffic congestion, carbon emissions, and the need for accessible transportation.

To achieve their objectives, Adastec plans to integrate AECOM’s AV-Readi tool into its deployment strategy. This tool will provide valuable insights into the feasibility of autonomous vehicle (AV) routes and identify potential obstacles to AV adoption. By incorporating the AV-Readi tool, Adastec aims to streamline its deployment process and assess site readiness virtually across different continents, eliminating the need for a physical presence. This virtual assessment capability is crucial to scaling up operations and increasing the global adoption rate of automated buses.

AECOM emphasizes that the AV-Readi tool offers a comprehensive analysis of roadway readiness for AVs, which is imperative for Adastec as it continues to deploy automated buses. The tool’s objective is to ensure the successful operation of Adastec’s electric public transit buses equipped with their SAE Level-4 automated driving software platform, flowride.ai, in diverse urban environments.

Dr. Ali Peker, CEO of Adastec, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating, Collaborating with AECOM and adopting their AV-Readi tool is a quantum leap in our deployment agility. Now, we can swiftly identify the best routes and prepare for deployments across the globe, from the bustling streets of North America to the diverse terrains of Europe and Australia, without stepping foot on-site.

Paul Avery, AECOM’s automation and data technical lead, spoke highly of the collaboration, commenting, Working with an innovative and agile company like Adastec is a pleasure and has allowed AECOM to explore new applications for our AV-Readi assessment tool. With deployments across the US and Europe, we have a great opportunity to collaborate and bring safe, capable automation to the transit world.

Suzanne Murtha, AECOM’s global lead for connected and automated technology, emphasized the transformative nature of the partnership, stating, This partnership with Adastec will prove transformational for the AV-Readi tool, which has already supported thousands of miles of automated vehicle routing analysis for numerous global infrastructure owners and operators. We couldn’t be prouder to collaborate with a leader in AV software to accelerate the deployment of automated vehicles globally.

The collaboration between Adastec and AECOM signifies a significant step forward in the effort to enhance the global deployment of automated buses. By leveraging AECOM’s AV-Readi tool, Adastec aims to overcome the challenges faced by modern cities and provide solutions that address traffic congestion, carbon emissions, and the need for accessible transportation. The integrated approach of these two industry leaders holds promise for the future of automated transportation on a global scale.
