Accenture India, one of the leading global professional services companies, has recently introduced a flexible leave policy to promote work-life balance among its employees. The policy, which was communicated via email by Lakshmi Chandrasekharan, Managing Director and HR Lead of Accenture India, allows employees to take small and big time-offs, depending on their specific needs and location.
In her email, Chandrasekharan emphasized the importance of flexibility in managing time in today’s always-on work environment. The updated policy recognizes that employees may require time off for various reasons, such as attending personal events, taking care of loved ones, or pursuing personal hobbies and passions.
The new leave policy takes into consideration the different requirements of various states and base locations of employees. Each city’s employees are entitled to a certain number of annual leave days, with different cities having different allowances. For instance, Accenture Noida employees enjoy a generous annual leave of 40 days, while Bengaluru employees have 30 days, and Indore employees top the chart with 45 days.
The policy also allows employees to carry forward unused leave days, although there is a cap on the number of days that can be carried over. For Delhi and Bengaluru employees, the carry-forward limit is 45 days. In a welcome move, Bengaluru employees have been granted an additional 5 days of leave compared to the previous year. The new leave policy also introduces casual leave as part of the benefits.
Under the revamped policy, earned leaves have been reduced from 24 to 18, while the number of casual and sick leave days has been increased to 12. Employees will need authorization and approval from management to use their earned leave, while sick and casual leave can be taken by notifying their superiors.
The leave year will now run from September 1 to August 31, providing a standardized timeframe for employees to plan their time off.
