Trinamool Congress’s national General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks about ancestral politics in West Bengal, which according to the Prime Minister, has resulted in huge scams in recruitment for state government jobs. While addressing the virtual ‘Rozgar Mela’ programme, the Prime Minister did not name any state, but his clear indication was towards West Bengal where the central agencies are currently investigating multi-crore recruitment scams.
Abhishek Banerjee suggested that the Prime Minister must practice what he preaches in response to his comments. The veteran Trinamool Congress leader and three-time party Lok Sabha member Saugata Roy launched a scathing attack against the Prime Minister in defense of the accusations that the Prime Minister made. Roy pointed out that the comments made by the Prime Minister prove how low he can stoop and requested him to provide a list of jobs that his confidante industrialists have provided.
The ‘cash for job’ investigation in West Bengal has emerged as a controversial matter with the upcoming state elections. The West Bengal government initiated an enquiry and suspended several individuals who were allegedly involved in the scam. Meanwhile, other opposition parties have jumped into the controversy to garner support and condemn the ruling government.
