Indian Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra has called for independent safeguarding measures to be established across sporting organizations following the detention of protesting wrestlers in New Delhi. Indian Olympic medalist wrestlers Sakshi Malik, Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, and Sangeeta Phogat accused Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Singh of sexual harassment and demanded his arrest. Bindra urged that such situations are dealt with utmost sensitivity and respect to ensure every athlete is in a safe and empowering environment. The Delhi Police have registered a case against the organizers of the protest and their supporters for violating law and order.

Abhinav Bindra is an Indian former shooter who is an Olympic gold medalist and a former World and Asian champion in the 10-meter air rifle event. He is the youngest Indian to win an individual gold medal at the Olympic Games.
