Flix Brewhouse is set to bring family-friendly entertainment to Albuquerque’s East Side, with plans to transform the abandoned Regal UA High Ridge 8 theater into a new location. The Hinkle Family Fun Center will soon have a new neighbor that promises to offer a great spot for families and friends to enjoy a day out.
Holly Huddle, CEO of Hinkle Income Properties, expressed excitement about the collaboration with Flix Brewhouse, believing it to be a perfect fit for the area. She noted that Flix Brewhouse’s success in Albuquerque has been exceptional, and expanding to the east side of town was a request they had received frequently.
While there were alternative options for the building, keeping it as a theater made the most sense. The interior demolition work has already begun, but it is minimal since the majority of the structure will be preserved. The plan is to commence construction soon, with hopes of opening in the spring, pending city permitting.
Before proceeding with the project, extensive research was conducted within a five-mile radius of the proposed location. The findings revealed a diverse range of potential customers, including young adults, young families, seniors, and retirees who are keen on going to the movies.
The new Flix Brewhouse location will span 28,000 square feet, making it smaller than the existing venue on the West Side. However, visitors can still expect the same Flix experience they have come to love. There will be seven auditoriums with approximately 700 seats, incorporating a kitchen that replaces one of the original auditoriums. Additionally, Flix Brewhouse plans to install a brewery in the lobby, providing patrons with the full experience.
In addition to the new location, Flix Brewhouse is also renovating its original site on Coors. An intimate theater with seating for 25 people will be added, along with games in the lobby for pre or post-movie enjoyment. These renovations are scheduled to be completed by the upcoming holiday season.
With Flix Brewhouse’s expansion plans and commitment to providing family-friendly entertainment, the Albuquerque community can look forward to new opportunities for fun and leisure on both sides of town.
