Aaron Rodgers Throws Touchdown in Jets Debut, Chiefs Rally to Beat Browns, Bills Top Bears in Preseason Action

Aaron Rodgers made his highly anticipated debut with the New York Jets on Saturday, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. The star quarterback threw a touchdown pass in his first action with his new team, helping lead the Jets to a 32-24 preseason victory over the New York Giants.

Rodgers, who hadn’t taken any preseason snaps since 2018, played the first two possessions and finished the game with a solid 5-of-8 passing for 47 yards. His touchdown pass came on a 14-yard strike to Garrett Wilson, showcasing the chemistry between the two.

After Rodgers exited the game, rookie Zach Wilson took over at quarterback and had a decent showing, going 11 of 18 for 107 yards. Third-string QB Tim Boyle also impressed, completing 9 of 11 passes for 107 yards and throwing a pair of touchdown passes to wide receiver Alex Erickson. On the defensive side, Brandin Echols returned an interception 67 yards for a Jets score.

The Giants found themselves in an early 14-0 hole after the first quarter but fought back to trail by just one point at halftime, 14-13. However, they couldn’t overcome the Jets’ lead in the second half. Backup QB Tommy DeVito finished the game with 19-of-29 passing, one touchdown, one interception, and four sacks.

In another preseason matchup, the Kansas City Chiefs staged an impressive comeback to defeat the Cleveland Browns 33-32. The Chiefs’ star quarterback Patrick Mahomes didn’t play, but Browns’ QB Deshaun Watson did and had a decent performance, going 5 of 10 for 92 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown pass to David Njoku. The Browns jumped out to a 22-3 lead early on, but the Chiefs rallied back behind their third-string quarterback, Chris Oladokun, who threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Matt Bushman to give the Chiefs a 30-29 lead. The Browns regained the lead with a field goal, but the Chiefs sealed the win with a 44-yard field goal by Harrison Butker in the final minutes.

Meanwhile, the Buffalo Bills claimed a hard-fought 24-21 victory over the Chicago Bears. Bills quarterback Josh Allen looked sharp in his final preseason tune-up, going 5 of 7 for 49 yards. Backup quarterback Kyle Allen also had a solid outing, completing 18 of 34 passes for 162 yards and a touchdown. The Bills’ rushing attack was led by Darrynton Evans, who rushed nine times for 65 yards and a score. The Bears’ rookie quarterback Justin Fields had one last opportunity to impress, completing 2 of 6 passes for 51 yards.

In other preseason action, the Green Bay Packers edged out the Seattle Seahawks 19-15, the Arizona Cardinals secured an 18-17 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, and the Washington Commanders defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 21-19. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers topped the Baltimore Ravens 26-20, the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Miami Dolphins 31-18, the Dallas Cowboys triumphed over the Las Vegas Raiders 31-16, and the Denver Broncos dominated the Los Angeles Rams with a resounding 41-0 victory.

As the preseason comes to a close, teams are now turning their attention to the regular season opener. Fans are eagerly anticipating the action-packed games that lie ahead, with high hopes for their favorite teams and players.
