Aaron Rodgers Provides Update on Rehab and Hopes to Return to Field This Season

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has given an update on his rehabilitation progress and expressed his hope to return to the field this season. The 39-year-old quarterback, who tore his left Achilles tendon just four snaps into his debut with the Jets on September 11, revealed that he is undergoing daily rehab and feeling positive about his recovery.

In an interview with NBC Sports at Santa Anita Park for the Breeders’ Cup, Rodgers said, It’s a process, step by step, day by day. There are some great days, some rough days. But the goal for me is to come back this year. Otherwise, I think it would be a lot of rehab in vain. We’ll see what happens. I’ve got to hit some markers before that. I’ve got to be able to move around and avoid putting myself in harm’s way.

Despite the setback, Rodgers has shown signs of progress. Last weekend, he was seen dropping back and putting weight on his injured leg as he threw several passes during warmups before the Jets’ game against the New York Giants. The Jets went on to win the game 13-10 in overtime, extending their winning streak to three games and improving their season record to 4-3.

While Rodgers focuses on his recovery, Zach Wilson has taken over as quarterback for the Jets. Wilson has been performing well, aiming to secure his fourth consecutive win when the Jets face the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday night. Rodgers expressed his pride in Wilson’s performance, stating, The team’s been playing good. Proud of Zach, proud of the boys, we’re 4-3, we’ve got a big one on Monday night and one coming up on NBC the following week. So, excited to head back there (Sunday) and see the fellas, cheer on a win and keep getting better.

Rodgers, a dedicated horse racing enthusiast, also shared his pick for the Breeders’ Cup Classic – Japanese horse Ushba Tesoro, the No. 8 horse in the race. His selection was based on the horse’s jersey number, which is also Rodgers’ jersey number. Recalling his regret of not betting on the No. 8 horse in the Kentucky Derby earlier this year, Rodgers missed out on a sizable win when Mage won at 15-1 odds.

Overall, Rodgers remains focused on his rehab and is determined to make a comeback this season. With the Jets performing well under Wilson’s guidance, the team is looking to build on their success. As Rodgers continues his recovery journey, he remains hopeful and committed to hitting the necessary milestones to return to the field.
