The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi has initiated a door-to-door campaign to seek support for their upcoming ‘maha rally’ against the Central government’s ordinance on services. The rally, scheduled for Sunday at the Ramlila Maidan, is in response to the Centre’s ordinance on May 19, which went against the Supreme Court’s ruling on the control of Delhi government officials. AAP convener Gopal Rai revealed that the party has divided the city into 2,500 ‘mandals,’ each the size of a polling booth, with a ‘maha rally mandal committee’ set up in every ‘mandal.’ Rai further added that 2,000 public meetings had been held with the masses collection in strength to avail their support against this ordinance. AAP Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has reached out to opposition leaders, including Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Telangana CM K. Chandrashekar Rao, and Tamil Nadu CM M.K. Stalin to seek support on the matter. The AAP has displayed their powerful stance on the issue, and in the upcoming monsoon season, they hope to replace the ordinance in the Rajya Sabha.
