The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has claimed that it has learned from reliable sources that the Congress will stage a walkout if the ordinance to control services is tabled in the Parliament. AAP sources have claimed that the Congress is likely to support the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the issue. AAP spokesperson, Priyanka Kakkar, criticised the silence of the Congress on the matter, saying that when the ordinance is tabled in the Rajya Sabha, it will be a ‘semifinal moment’ to show the power of the opposition. Kakkar also asked why the Congress was taking time to declare its stance on the ordinance. This comes after the Centre brought an ordinance on May 19 that curtailed the powers of Delhi’s elected government, causing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to meet with different opposition parties across the country to garner support, claiming the ordinance will destroy the federal structure of the country.
