Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers in Sardarpur tehsil, Madhya Pradesh, have initiated an indefinite hunger strike to protest against the poor health facilities provided by the local health department. The workers had submitted a memorandum to the SDM addressing Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on June 14, highlighting the need for improvement in health services. However, as no action was taken, they resorted to launching a hunger strike.
AAP workers, Rakesh Solanki and Gaurav Kamediya, warned the administration of the hunger strike if they did not take any immediate steps to address the issue. In the memorandum, they demanded an increase in the number of doctors in OPD and sonography facilities for pregnant women to prevent them from travelling to other cities for tests.
According to the workers, despite having a community health center, Sardarpur lacks necessary services and even asks patients to bring blood storage containers from outside for blood tests. Therefore, they demanded permanent solutions to these issues.
However, CBMO Bramharaj Koshal rejected the allegations, calling them baseless. He added that the hospital had enough manpower and had solved the shortage of medicines.
The AAP workers have vowed to continue their hunger strike until the issues are resolved and adequate health facilities are provided to the residents of Sardarpur.
It is essential that the government takes immediate action to address the grievances of the AAP workers and ensure that the residents of Sardarpur receive quality healthcare facilities.
