MAG Aerospace and L3Harris Technologies have been awarded a contract by the U.S. Army to deliver enhanced intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) aircraft in support of the Army’s ATHENA-R program. Under this contract, two aircraft equipped with integrated ISR systems will be provided to help the Army meet its global intelligence requirements.

The selected aircraft for this program is the Bombardier Global 6500, which offers high altitude capabilities, enabling greater survivability and line-of-sight. This is crucial for the Army’s long-range precision fires modernization priorities. The ATHENA-R program aims to bridge the gap between the Army’s medium and high-altitude ISR aircraft fleet and provide extended endurance, increased payload capacity, longer standoff ranges, and cutting-edge sensor technology to support U.S. combatant commands.

MAG Aerospace, the prime contractor for the Army’s Sensor Technology Operations and Readiness (STORM) contract, is deeply embedded in critical ISR capabilities. The company’s CEO, Joseph Reale, expressed their commitment to addressing near-peer threats and future contested environments, stating that their exceptional performance history and relentless work alongside customers have led to this validation.

L3Harris, a trusted partner with a great track record of working with the Army, will collaborate with MAG Aerospace to deliver these long-range, deep-sensing capabilities. The company’s President of Integrated Mission Systems, Jon Rambeau, emphasized their understanding of the urgency to field these capabilities to support the Army’s mission needs.

Both MAG Aerospace and L3Harris have demonstrated their expertise in providing advanced ISR solutions and have previously supported other Army ISR missions. The collaboration between these two industry leaders will enable the Army to enhance its intelligence capabilities and effectively address evolving threats.

MAG Aerospace, headquartered in Fairfax, Va., specializes in delivering Full-Spectrum Joint Domain Command and Control Services globally to ensure a smaller and safer world. With a team of over 1,200 C5ISR professionals spread across six continents, MAG offers innovative solutions backed by its operational excellence and technical understanding.

L3Harris Technologies is a trusted disruptor in the global aerospace and defense industry, providing end-to-end technology solutions across various domains such as space, air, land, sea, and cyber. With its team of more than 50,000 employees, L3Harris prioritizes customers’ mission-critical needs.

The contract awarded to MAG Aerospace and L3Harris Technologies underscores the importance of enhanced intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities for the U.S. Army. By leveraging advanced aircraft and cutting-edge sensor technology, the Army will be better equipped to fulfill its global intelligence requirements and maintain a stronger defense in the face of evolving threats.
