Speculation over a possible bypoll for the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency has been raised after the Election Commission conducted a mock polling at the Kozhikode district collectorate building on Wednesday. The mock polling was held to check the EVM and VVPAT machines, but a senior Congress leader from Wayanad said that everything appears to be shrouded in mystery of this mock polling. The leader also mentioned that the case of Rahul Gandhi, who won the Wayanad seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections is still pending before the court. Gandhi’s election is sub-judice and he has been disqualified by the Lok Sabha secretariat in the wake of a court directive from Gujarat. Gandhi had won the Wayanad seat with a staggering margin of over four lakh votes in the 2019 Lok Sabha general elections.
