Two constables have been suspended after the wife of a criminal died due to severe head injuries sustained during an exchange of fire with police in the Ghazipur district of Uttar Pradesh. Vikas Yadav, who was injured and arrested, was being taken to the hospital to receive medical treatment at the time of the incident. The police have claimed that Yadav’s wife, Nandini, was involved in an accident on her way to see him, however, his family have suggested that she was thrashed and pushed by the authorities, resulting in her injuries. The police have since suspended SO Khanpur Sanjay Mishra and two constables due to the allegations. IG Varanasi range Akhilesh Chaurasia and SP will oversee the investigation.
