A bus driver for the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has been suspended for allowing two passengers to stop and offer namaz during a journey. The incident occurred on a Janrath bus travelling from Kaushambi on Saturday night. The vehicle halted in a secluded spot and the driver, K P Singh, permitted the two Muslim passengers to pray in the road. Fellow passengers complained and one recorded the incident, which was later circulated online. The driver and a contractual conductor, Mohit Yadav, were suspended by the transport corporation as a result of the complaints. A union official said the punishment was one-sided, and the two men should have been granted the opportunity to present their case.
