Bus Driver tragically dies 5 days after collision in East Ayrshire
Condolences have been expressed to the family and friends of a bus driver who tragically lost his life five days after being involved in a collision with a van in East Ayrshire. The incident occurred on the A77 on Monday, August 14th.
Gordon Stirling, a 23-year-old resident of the Crosshouse area, was left fighting for his life following the crash. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Mr. Stirling succumbed to his injuries at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH) in Glasgow on Saturday.
The 42-year-old driver of the white Ford Transit van is currently in a serious but stable condition at the QEUH, as confirmed by Police Scotland. Two passengers on the Stagecoach single-decker bus, a 68-year-old woman, and a 19-year-old man, were also taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure but were later discharged.
Fiona Doherty, the Managing Director of Stagecoach West Scotland, expressed her deep sadness over the loss of their colleague, Gordon Stirling. She conveyed heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, noting that the entire Stagecoach team is devastated by the tragic news. Ms. Doherty further pledged support to those Stagecoach employees who were acquainted with Mr. Stirling.
