AIIMS Delhi, one of the premier medical institutions in India, has successfully thwarted a malware attack on its servers. The incident was detected by the institute’s cyber-security systems on June 6 at 2:50 pm. Fortunately, the malware attack was neutralized, and services remained unaffected. In a tweet, AIIMS confirmed that their eHospital services remain fully secure and functional. Last year, a similar cyber attack had caused significant disruptions to the hospital’s registration, admission, and discharge services for two weeks. Following this, two of the analysts responsible for the servers’ security were suspended for allegedly breaching cybersecurity protocols. In December 2020, the AIIMS Delhi server attack was traced to Chinese hackers, although the data in the impacted servers has since been successfully retrieved.
