Charlize Theron Vows to No Longer Gain Weight for Movie Roles, Embracing Natural Aging Process
Charlize Theron, the renowned South African actress known for her roles in movies like Mad Max and Fast & Furious, has recently opened up about her decision to no longer undergo drastic weight changes for film roles. In an interview with Allure magazine, the 48-year-old star revealed that due to her aging metabolism, she has decided to prioritize her health and well-being by avoiding extreme weight fluctuations.
Theron, who won an Academy Award for her role in the movie Monster in 2004, famously gained weight for the part. Reflecting on her past experiences, she stated, I will never, ever do a movie again and say, ‘Yeah, I’ll gain 40 pounds.’ You can’t take it off. She went on to share her struggles in losing weight for other films, mentioning that it took her over a year to shed the pounds she gained for her role in Tully.
Acknowledging the changes that come with aging, Theron discussed the double standards of beauty in the industry. She expressed her frustration with the notion that men age like fine wines while women are expected to remain youthful like cut flowers. I despise that concept and I want to fight against it, she passionately stated. Theron emphasized the importance of allowing women to age in a way that feels right for them, embracing the natural changes that occur over time.
Addressing rumors of plastic surgery, the actress firmly denied undergoing any invasive procedures. She confidently stated, People think I had a facelift. They’re like, ‘What did she do to her face?’ I’m like, ‘[expletive], I’m just aging! It doesn’t mean I got bad plastic surgery. This is just what happens.’
Theron also shared her admiration for her two daughters, who seem unaffected by societal stigmas surrounding aging. She expressed her wish for society as a whole to adopt the same mindset, where age is not a determining factor of beauty or worth.
In discussing the physical demands of her roles, Theron humorously expressed a longing for her younger, more flexible body. However, she also acknowledged the importance of taking care of herself as she ages. Now, if I don’t work out for three days and I go back to the gym, I can’t walk. I can’t sit down on the toilet, she jokingly remarked.
As Theron embarks on the next phase of her career, she is determined to prioritize her overall well-being and embrace the natural aging process. Her decision to no longer undergo extreme weight changes for movie roles serves as a reminder of the importance of self-care and self-acceptance in an industry often obsessed with youth and perfection.
