American Horror Story Season 12’s Risky Split Release Strategy and Lessons from Double Feature

American Horror Story season 12 is taking a risky approach with its release strategy, following in the footsteps of its previous installment, Double Feature. This decision could potentially spell trouble for the highly anticipated Delicate storyline. While the first part of Double Feature, Red Tide, received critical acclaim, the second part, Death Valley, was poorly received. The lack of connection and overlap between the two parts ultimately led to the downfall of Double Feature.

Unfortunately, it seems that American Horror Story has not learned from its past mistakes. Like Double Feature, Delicate will be split into two parts, raising concerns about the success of the overall season. If Part One outperforms Part Two significantly, it could lead to a similar outcome as Double Feature. The success of Delicate will heavily rely on how different the two parts are in terms of story, themes, and writing.

Unlike Double Feature, however, the decision to split American Horror Story season 12 into multiple parts is not based on separate storylines. Instead, it is a response to production shut-downs caused by strikes. The first part of the season will air the completed episodes, while the second part will consist of episodes that are yet to be finished. Although Part One is set to premiere on FX on September 20, no release date has been announced for Part Two.

American Horror Story has had its ups and downs in recent years, with a decline in high-quality writing and character development. However, the return of familiar faces like Emma Roberts and an intriguing plot reminiscent of Rosemary’s Baby in Delicate give fans hope for a redemption of the anthology series. While the absence of Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters may be felt, the opportunity to bounce back from two lackluster seasons is within reach.

With iconic seasons like Murder House, Asylum, Coven, and Apocalypse, American Horror Story has proven its ability to captivate audiences. It remains to be seen whether Delicate will follow in the footsteps of these successful seasons or continue the pattern of recent disappointments. The split release strategy adds an additional layer of uncertainty, leaving fans eagerly awaiting the premiere of Part One and wondering when they will get to see the remaining episodes.

In order to achieve a successful season, American Horror Story must find a way to ensure that both parts of Delicate are equally engaging and well-received. Otherwise, they risk falling into the same trap as Double Feature and tarnishing the legacy of Red Tide with the failures of Part Two. Only time will tell if American Horror Story season 12 can break free from its recent struggles and deliver a thrilling and cohesive storyline that will leave fans satisfied.
