In the upcoming season, Loki will join forces with Mobius to rectify the chaos caused by Kang the Conqueror’s time-traveling escapades and restore the Sacred Timeline. However, their attempts may fall short as Avengers 5 and 6 are poised to save the multiverse in their own epic showdowns against Kang.
Loki season 2’s ending has been unintentionally revealed through Marvel’s master plan for the Avengers. Following the demise of He Who Remains, the God of Mischief, played by Tom Hiddleston, is slated to return for another thrilling season on Disney+, alongside Owen Wilson’s Mobius. As hinted in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Loki’s mission will involve confronting Victor Timely, another variant of Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror.
While most of Marvel’s groundwork for Kang’s introduction in Phase 6 stems from Quantumania, Loki season 1 also provided a crucial pathway for the emergence of this formidable villain in the Multiverse Saga. As stated by Kang’s He Who Remains variant in the season finale, his death will unleash his countless other variants across the multiverse. This revelation sheds light on the challenging situation that Loki will face when the series returns.
The trailer for Loki season 2 supports the theory that Loki and Mobius will be tasked with fixing the repercussions caused by Kang’s time-altering exploits. One striking shot in the trailer features Mobius venturing into space, presumably to reunite the fragmented branches of the Sacred Timeline. Restoring this timeline would align with their ultimate goal, especially considering how season 1 concluded. The Time Variance Authority (TVA) has always been devoted to preserving the Sacred Timeline, but He Who Remains’ demise has changed everything.
Although the specific methods used by Loki and Mobius to restore the Sacred Timeline remain unclear, all signs indicate that Kang’s Victor Timely variant holds the key. Interestingly, despite Loki’s heroic efforts in season 2, it is already evident that he and Mobius won’t be able to fully resolve the Kang problem within the multiverse. If they were successful, there would be no need for the Avengers to intervene and save the multiverse in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. Even by the conclusion of Loki season 2, the chaos unleashed by Sylvie is likely to pose an ongoing threat.
