Honda Cars India has unveiled its latest SUV, the Elevate, which will primarily be produced for the domestic market. However, the model, with its urban freestyler concept, will eventually be exported worldwide to meet the growing demand for SUVs. The model, which was developed by Honda R&D Asia Pacific centre in Thailand, is described as visually stunning, versatile, comfortable and fun to drive. The carmaker’s R&D team in India, utilising the country’s three main motivations for SUV buyers, have worked on developing Honda’s latest addition to the SUV market. India’s importance in the global automotive industry is significant for Honda, with the country fulfilling a specific role as one of the automaker’s most important export hubs. Honda aims to achieve total global sales of electric and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles by 2040, with plans to launch Honda’s first battery-electric vehicle (BEV) in India within the next three years.
