Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, is scheduled to meet with Uttar Pradesh (UP) leader, Akhilesh Yadav, in Lucknow this coming Wednesday. Kejriwal is hoping to gain Yadav’s support against the Centre’s ordinance to manage administrative services in the capital.
While the SP sources confirmed the meeting, they stated that a time was yet to be agreed upon. AAP MP and in-charge Sanjay Singh will join Kejriwal, and the trio is expected to address a press conference following the meeting.
Kejriwal has previously met with state leaders and opposition parties to gather support against the ordinance, which removes services from the Delhi government’s control and hands them to the L-G. This happened just days after the supreme court ruled in favour of the Delhi government.
The ordinance is expected to be passed in Parliament, given its NDA majority, where it will be cleared.
Opposition leaders that have previously shown support for Kejriwal and AAP include Mamata Banerjee, Sitaram Yechury, Nitish Kumar, Uddhav Thackery, K. Chandrashekhar Rao, Sharad Pawar, M.K. Stalin, and Hemant Soren.
