The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that there are slim chances of rainfall in Gujarat for the next few days. However, officials are keeping a sharp eye on a cyclonic circulation developing in the Arabian Sea that may intensify in the following days and trigger rainfall.
According to an IMD release on Monday, a low-pressure area formed over the southeast part of the Arabian Sea and is expected to move north-northwestwards, concentrating into a depression within the next 24 hours. The next 48 hours will be crucial in determining the course of the cyclonic system, which may take the form of a cyclone. If it remains close to the Gujarat coast, some areas may get rainfall and strong winds.
The maximum temperature in Ahmedabad has been below normal and is likely to reach 40 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, with a clear sky. The expected strong winds will impact several Gujarat districts on Tuesday, including Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Sabarkantha, Surendranagar, Rajkot, Devbhoomi Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Morbi, and Kutch.
On Monday, Rajkot was the hottest city at 41.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Surendranagar at 41.3 degrees Celsius, and Amreli at 40.8 degrees Celsius.
According to officials, it is still too early to predict the trajectory of the cyclonic circulation accurately. In the meantime, the IMD continues monitoring the system to provide accurate and timely weather alerts to the public.
Gujarat residents are advised to remain alert and prepare for any changes in weather patterns that the cyclonic circulation may bring.
