Akshay Kumar’s Film ‘OMG 2’ Moving Towards Rs 100 Crore Mark in India, Defying Initial Flop Label

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar’s latest venture, ‘OMG 2,’ faced a slow start but is now on the verge of crossing the prestigious Rs 100 crore mark in India. Despite some reports labeling it a flop due to alleged high production costs, Ajit Andhare, the COO of Viacom 18 Studios, has dismissed these claims, shedding light on Akshay Kumar’s unique involvement.

Contrary to popular belief, Akshay Kumar did not charge a fee for his performance in ‘OMG 2,’ according to Viacom’s COO. This is because Akshay took on the dual role of actor and producer, opting to forgo a salary in exchange for a percentage of the film’s eventual profits.

Ajit Andhare emphasized the crucial role played by Akshay Kumar in ‘OMG 2,’ highlighting that the star was deeply invested both creatively and financially. This collaboration between the actor and the studio reflects their commitment to delivering impactful storytelling, as seen in their successful past projects like ‘OMG,’ ‘Special 26,’ and ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.’

In response to reports of an exaggerated budget, Andhare stated that Akshay’s financial participation and willingness to shoulder creative and financial risks were instrumental in completing the film. The insiders also claim that the film’s actual budget is only Rs 50 crore, in contrast to the rumored Rs 150 crore.

Starring Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva’s messenger, alongside Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam, ‘OMG 2’ is directed by Amit Rai. Pankaj Tripathi’s character, fighting a court case to promote sex education for his son, holds central importance in the storyline. Yami Gautam plays the opposing lawyer. Despite a slow start, ‘OMG 2’ has managed to accumulate an impressive Rs 84.72 crore in its first week.

Akshay Kumar’s dedication to his roles and projects shines brightly in the ever-changing landscape of Indian cinema. His financial support and creative commitment in ‘OMG 2’ reflect a powerful synergy that has propelled the film to both commercial and artistic success.

In conclusion, despite initial challenges, ‘OMG 2′ has defied the flop label and is now steadily approaching the Rs 100 crore mark in India. With Akshay Kumar’s unwavering dedication and Viacom 18 Studios’ support, the film continues to captivate audiences with its impactful storytelling.
