The opposition parties’ meeting scheduled for June 12 was postponed due to differences in opinions between Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and Congress. While Bihar Chief Minister and JD-U leader Nitish Kumar claimed that the meeting was deferred due to Congress’ refusal, the grand old party stated that it requested to postpone the meeting as several like-minded party leaders were unavailable on June 12. Kumar had called the meeting of like-minded parties in Patna, which was agreed to by many leaders. However, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK leader MK Stalin cited personal engagements on June 12 and asked to postpone the meeting for another date. Congress also came forward with the same proposal citing the unavailability of their party President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. The meeting has been postponed, and the new date will be decided after June 22.
