HDFC Bank, India’s largest private sector lender, has suspended a high-ranking employee after a video of his abusive behavior towards subordinates went viral on social media. The employee, a vice president-rank officer based in Kolkata, was filmed berating colleagues for not meeting business targets and pressuring them to sell insurance policies. The bank stated that it has a zero tolerance policy for misconduct and is committed to treating all employees with respect. The bank has initiated a detailed investigation into the matter to be conducted as per conduct guidelines. The incident has raised concerns about misselling of financial products as bank employees chase targets.
