The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is working to integrate states and central government sellers with Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), according to DPIIT Joint Secretary Sanjiv. The ONDC is an initiative designed to help small retailers take advantage of digital commerce through the creation of a facilitative model. It is not a platform, software or application, but a set of specifications designed to enable an open, unbundled and interoperable open network. Sanjiv said supporting micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) was a priority for the ONDC and unlocking value in the huge B2B market would increase access and discoverability for various businesses across the network. The ONDC has made significant strides in the number of sellers and service providers on the network, with more than 100,000 now registered, while the number of network participants has grown to 51.
