Schneider Electric and Arcelor Mittal Nippon Steel India (AMNS) have signed a memorandum of understanding to establish an institute for providing engineering and technical education with a focus on manufacturing and sustainability. The partnership has led to the creation of a smart campus in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, called the New Age Makers Institute of Technology (NAMTECH). The institution will commence operations at an interim campus at the Research Park at IIT Gandhinagar in August 2023, and work on developing short- and long-term academic programmes, including a professional Master’s programme in Smart Manufacturing, and a professional Technologist programme in Automation. Furthermore, the companies will collaborate on designing and creating various technical labs in the Ahmedabad campus. This move is aimed at equipping young people with essential skills and knowledge they need for excelling in the digital era of manufacturing.
