AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj accused of covering up CBI investigation into triple train crash

AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj has accused the central government of covering up those responsible for the triple train accident in Odisha, which has claimed 275 lives and injured over 1,000 people so far. He highlighted the poor state of railways under the BJP government, citing a CAG report which revealed that 217 major accidents had occurred from April 2017 to March 2022, and that tracks were not being properly maintained. Bharadwaj also called for an independent judicial probe into the incident under the sitting judge of the Supreme Court, stating that the CBI is an organization that works under political pressure and cannot be expected to conduct a transparent investigation. He criticized the BJP government for engaging in work through which accolades can be gained while ignoring the need for proper safety measures. Lastly, he held Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw solely responsible for the accident, mentioning that the minister himself claimed that trains would not collide after the installation of an armor device called Kavach, which was not installed in the track where the collision occurred.
