Three individuals were arrested in Lawngtlai district near the Bangladesh border in Mizoram after a tip-off led Assam Rifles and Mizoram police personnel to conduct a raid. The authorities apprehended the suspects along with a large stash of ammunition. The team acted on information that members of the Kuki-Chin National Army (KCNA) had entered the area with a cache of weapons. The recovered ammunition includes 1,008 rounds of 5.56 mm caliber, two rounds of 9 mm, one round each of UBGL40/46 mm and 38 spl ammunition. Officials identified the suspects as Joseph Lalnuntluang (48), Vanrothawna (58), and Dabibadah (75), residents of the Parva village in Lawngtlai district. The three arrested persons were suspected of KCNA sympathies and reportedly planned to hand over the ammunition to other members of the organization at either Hmambu or Bultlang village in the district.
