Passenger train services have resumed on the Bhadrak-Balasore route in the Indian state of Odisha, after a tragic triple train accident last Friday left 275 people dead and over 1,000 people injured. The collision occurred at the Bahanaga station. The Union Railways Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, was present at the site and waved at the crew of a goods train, offering prayers for a safe journey. Both upline and down-line tracks have been restored. The minister vowed to go beyond the immediate aftermath of the incident and focus on reuniting missing persons with their anxious family members. The passenger train and the Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Express train both resumed services on Monday morning. The Vande Bharat Express train was seen crossing the affected tracks of Bahanaga railway station with slow speed. Around 260 passengers are still receiving treatment at various government and private hospitals of Odisha.
