Texas Rangers Introduce Corey’s Corner – A Rowdy Fan Section Inspired by Frat-Style Fun
ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Rangers have unveiled an exciting addition to their ballpark experience known as Corey’s Corner. Inspired by the frat-style fun seen in other sports venues, Corey’s Corner aims to create a rowdy and energetic fan section at Globe Life Field.
The idea for Corey’s Corner came from two young fans with large social media followings. Jake Dupre, who runs the popular Rangers Nation Instagram account, teamed up with a fellow die-hard Rangers fanatic on TikTok to organize the event. Their goal was to pack out Section 133 in right center field for a game against Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Angels.
Drawing inspiration from similar fan sections in baseball and other sports, Dupre reached out to his more than 50,000 Instagram followers to spread the word. The response was overwhelming, with 400 fans showing up to create an electric atmosphere in Corey’s Corner.
In true frat-style fashion, the rowdy fans in Corey’s Corner engaged in beer-chugging and name-chanting. Their energy caught the attention of not only fellow fans and broadcasters but also the team itself. Rangers second baseman Marcus Semien expressed his enthusiasm for the lively fan section, saying, It’s definitely been a fun year, and that definitely adds excitement to our games here at home, so we love it.
Manager Bruce Bochy echoed Semien’s sentiments, stating, We hear it. We feel it and it’s great to have them up there. It really is. I think the players are having fun with it too. We listen to their chants and stuff and so it’s a good thing you know.
Beyond their exuberant cheering and chanting, fans in Corey’s Corner also made use of signs to try and recruit Shohei Ohtani to join the Rangers. Their passion and dedication are evident, as they aim to bring a playoff and college football atmosphere to Globe Life Field.
Jake Dupre, the organizer of Corey’s Corner, plans to make this a regular occurrence, regardless of his presence at the games. His ultimate goal is to turn Corey’s Corner into a lasting and cherished tradition.
