Karnataka Government Confirms Continuation of Shakti Scheme Amid Rumor Mongering

In response to false rumors circulating on various social media platforms, the Karnataka government has debunked claims surrounding the withdrawal of the Shakti scheme. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took to social media to assure the public that these rumors were baseless and that the guarantee schemes, including the Shakti scheme, will continue as planned.

Over the past few days, misinformation has been spreading on platforms like WhatsApp, causing confusion among the public. However, Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy clarified that these rumors were unfounded and urged the public not to believe such false news. The Shakti scheme, which offers free bus travel for women passengers on ordinary buses operated by road transport corporations throughout Karnataka, has been highly successful since its launch on June 11. The initiative has been well-received by female passengers, with 40.02 crore women utilizing the scheme to travel within the state. The cumulative value of tickets purchased by these women passengers amounts to ₹930,34,82,844.

Minister Reddy emphasized the achievements of the Shakti scheme and assured the public that it would continue for another 10 years. He expressed disappointment at the few individuals who were spreading deceptive information with the intention of causing confusion among the public.
