Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has issued a stern warning against the practice of Love Jihad, stating that while love is acceptable, Jihad will not be allowed on Madhya Pradesh soil.
Speaking at the Brahmin Mahakumbh event held in Bhopal, Chouhan recognised the contributions of the Brahmin community in various fields such as education, religion, teaching, and science. He gave examples of how Brahmins had influenced different genres, including mathematics, politics, geography, and literature. Chouhan also highlighted how Brahmins contributed to the birth of zero, an important discovery that continues to impact the world today.
During the event, Chouhan announced that a chapter on Lord Parshuram would be included in the textbook of the state. He shared how the birthplace of Parshuram, Janapav near Indore, was being transformed into a place of spiritual and tourism interest to promote the state’s historical and mythological significance.
The Chief Minister’s warning comes at a time when the state government is drafting a strict law against individuals who trap women into marriage through deceit. Under this proposed law, culprits may face a jail sentence of up to ten years.
Chouhan reiterated that those indulging in Love Jihad would be dealt with an iron fist as per the law. With a large number of members of the Brahmin community in attendance, the event focussed on the contributions of different communities while promoting the state’s cultural and historical significance.
While the Chief Minister’s emphasis on stopping Love Jihad reflects his concern about the safety and security of the people, his efforts towards promoting education and cultural heritage are equally praiseworthy. The inclusion of Lord Parshuram’s chapter in the state’s textbook is a testament to the government’s efforts to honour India’s rich culture and legacy for generations to come.
