The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light rainfall over the western Himalayan region during the next four to five days, providing relief from the scorching summer heat. The IMD said a Western disturbance over Iran is responsible for the rainfall activity, which is also expected to occur over Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi NCR for the next two days. The Senior Scientist at IMD-Delhi, Dr Naresh Kumar, added that very light rainfall is expected over the aforementioned areas in the next two days, after which temperatures are anticipated to rise. Meanwhile, Bihar and West Bengal are set to continue experiencing a heatwave over the next three to four days. The IMD is urging caution and has issued an oral alert for the region. Light to moderate rain was seen in parts of Delhi and the surrounding areas on Sunday morning, bringing temporary respite from the heat. Moderate-intensity rain is also expected to occur over some parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on Sunday.
