Connecticut Doctor Kidnapped After Brooklyn Mirage Show: Bizarre Twist Unfolds
A bizarre and chilling incident has unfolded in Brooklyn, New York, involving the popular venue, Brooklyn Mirage. Reports have surfaced of a Connecticut-based doctor being kidnapped over a weekend after attending a show at the venue. The strange turn of events adds to the already mysterious circumstances surrounding the venue, following the recent deaths of two men who disappeared near the Brooklyn Mirage.
According to a police report obtained by The Hour, the alleged incident took place on the night of 21 July. The Norwalk Hospital doctor, whose identity remains undisclosed, and his friends attended a show at the Brooklyn Mirage. After the show ended, the doctor hailed a cab to go to his parked car a few blocks away. However, he realized he was not alone in the back seat. Another man was also present, and it soon became apparent that the cab driver had different plans in mind.
The cab driver informed the doctor that they were going to an after-hours party in Manhattan and refused to take him to his car. A heated argument ensued, and things quickly escalated when the cab driver attempted to physically assault the doctor. In stepped Anthony Benjamin, a 43-year-old individual who claimed to be the promoter of the party. Benjamin tried to calm the situation down and assured the doctor that he was there for his protection, even going so far as to indicate that he was carrying a weapon.
Instead of taking the doctor to his car, Benjamin insisted that they take a Lyft back to Brooklyn, where they eventually reached the doctor’s car. However, Benjamin’s behavior became increasingly intimidating, making threats and boasting about his involvement in violent activities. He demanded that the doctor withdraw $20,000 from multiple ATMs, but the doctor explained that he could only withdraw a fraction of that amount.
Eventually, Benjamin forced the doctor to hand over the money, which Benjamin then distributed to his friends and acquaintances in the neighborhood. The situation continued to escalate as Benjamin took the doctor on a shopping spree, where they attempted to purchase items but encountered payment issues due to the doctor’s declined cards.
During the ordeal, Benjamin threatened the doctor’s life multiple times, even while they made stops at a barber shop and a strip club. The doctor complied with Benjamin’s demands out of fear for his safety and the wellbeing of others.
At one point, the doctor received a call regarding an emergency patient. Recognizing the severity of the situation, he informed Benjamin that he needed to return to work promptly. It was at this point that Benjamin enlisted the help of Steve Daley, 50, as he could not drive the doctor’s stick shift car.
Upon arriving at Norwalk Hospital at 3:40 a.m., the doctor reported the incident to hospital security, prompting a lockdown. Police were alerted and subsequently apprehended Benjamin and Daley, charging Benjamin with second-degree kidnapping and possession of a controlled substance, and Daley with conspiracy to commit second-degree kidnapping.
The pair are set to appear in state Superior Court in Stamford on 19 September, according to The Hour.
The Independent reached out to Norwalk Hospital and the Norwalk Police Department for further information.
This chilling incident involving the kidnapping of a Connecticut doctor after attending a show at the Brooklyn Mirage raises concerns about the safety and security surrounding the venue. As the investigation continues, authorities must prioritize the well-being of concertgoers and address any potential loopholes that may lead to similar incidents in the future.
