Indian authorities have stopped their search for survivors of a major train disaster that occurred on Friday night, as the death toll rose to at least 280 people. Three trains collided in the state of Odisha, resulting in a pileup and becoming one of the worst railway accidents in the country’s history. India’s Railways Ministry said on Twitter that restoration work was underway. At least 900 people were injured, and the cause of the crash is still under investigation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the crash was a sad moment, and an inquiry into the crash has already been launched. Victims and their families will reportedly be compensated, but some regional and opposition politicians have called for the resignation of Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Railways Minister.
