The train accident that occurred on Friday in Bahanaga, Odisha, has been attributed to changes in the electronic interlocking system. The Odisha chief minister said that all possible steps have been taken to save the lives of those injured and announced an ex-gratia payment from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, with a total of Rs 5 lakh and Rs 1 lakh as assistance for the next of kin of the deceased and the injured, respectively.
