The Greenwood Bulldogs are determined to redeem themselves after falling short in two consecutive trips to the state championship. Coach Chris Young acknowledged the disappointment of not finishing strong last year but expressed the team’s motivation to get back on the field and make things right.

With an impressive offseason under their belt, Greenwood returns a more experienced lineup than in previous years. The team boasts the best receiving corps in the state, led by seniors L.J. Robins, Noah Chaser, and Peyton Presson, along with junior standouts Grant Karnes and Isaiah Arrington. Karnes had a stellar season last year, leading the Bulldogs with 95 catches for 1,287 yards and 15 touchdowns. Robins and Presson also had impressive stats, and Arrington, who previously played at cornerback, will now join the receiving ranks.

The Bulldogs also have a reliable running back in senior Brayedon Davis, who emerged as a threat during the offseason. Davis’s addition to the team further strengthens Greenwood’s offensive capabilities and limits the defensive options for opposing teams.

Despite the wealth of talent on offense, Coach Young emphasizes the importance of being selfless and committed to the team’s success. The receivers understand the value of blocking and celebrating their teammates’ achievements, which adds to the team’s dynamic on the field.

Greenwood’s offensive line returns three starters, including senior Ryan Shortes, who is entering his third year as a starter. Junior Ashton Stein also returns at tackle, and sophomore Cody Taylor, who started as a freshman, adds depth to the line. The remaining two spots on the line will be filled during August’s competition.

The quarterback position is the least experienced on the team, but sophomore Kane Archer has already shown promise with his playing time last year. Archer led the team to victory in several critical games, showcasing his talent and composure under pressure. He will have the support of his talented receivers to help drive the team’s success.

On the defensive side, Greenwood boasts nine returning starters, creating a strong foundation for the upcoming season. The team’s defensive staff is considered the best in Arkansas, making the combination of experienced players and coaching expertise a powerful force. Seniors Brady Pettigrew and Brenden Chick, along with junior Cash Archer, anchor the defensive line, while players like Eli Whitaker, Caleb Gardner, and Riley White bring experience to the linebacker position. In the secondary, seniors Landon Nelms and Brady Mackey lead the way, with Braden Skaggs returning after missing three games due to injury.

The Greenwood Bulldogs are primed for a successful season, fueled by their desire for redemption and the talent they possess on both offense and defense. With a strong roster and a committed coaching staff, the Bulldogs have their sights set on claiming the state championship title that eluded them in the past two years.
