The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, was taken aback when party office-bearers in Indore brought the public’s grievances to his attention. The BJP leaders expressed concerns over the excessive fines being imposed for traffic violations and high power bills. The Chief Minister had met with the party’s elected representatives, city office-bearers, and mandal presidents after seeing off the Nepal Prime Minister.
The party officials assured Chouhan that the BJP would win both Rau and Indore-I seats. However, they also presented a list of issues that were troubling the public, including exorbitant electricity bills, which were affecting even middle-class families. They also expressed annoyance over the unusually large number of daily traffic fines being issued. They claimed that instead of improving traffic, the police were busy with the issuance of challans throughout the day. The leaders also requested that the Anaj Mandi in Chhavni be shifted to another location as it was causing traffic congestion.
All BJP MLAs of Indore, both ministers, MPs, and city and district presidents silently witnessed the leaders’ complaints. The public’s grievances regarding traffic fines and power bills are signs of a growing concern among the local population, and officials must take action to address these issues. The Chief Minister will have to take prompt measures to quell the situation and restore the public’s faith in the government.
