Shocking Video: Young Boy Disrespects Indian National Flag on Independence Day in West Bengal
In a shocking incident that unfolded on India’s 77th Independence Day, a video emerged online showing a young boy displaying utter disrespect towards the Indian National Flag. The incident took place in Itinda town, located in the Basirhat district of West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas. Surprisingly, despite the presence of several locals and police personnel, no one intervened to prevent the child from engaging in this deplorable act.
Basirhat, where the unfortunate incident occurred, is a border town in West Bengal and has become a hub for illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. The incident has stirred up immense outrage and disbelief among the public.
Suvendu Adhikari, a prominent leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, shared the video on social media platform X, expressing his deep shame and highlighting the legal consequences of such actions. Adhikari referred to the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, which outlines the legal provisions against acts of disrespect towards the national flag. He called upon the Chief Secretary, Director-General of West Bengal Police, Superintendent of Police – Basirhat Police District, and the District Magistrate of North 24-Parganas to identify the culprits swiftly and take strict action against them in accordance with the law.
The video shows a young boy following the instructions of a woman as he climbs onto the terrace of a house, where both the Indian National Flag and a saffron flag had been hoisted. The child begins by removing and discarding the saffron flag, tossing it down to the ground. He then proceeds to attack the National Flag, removing it from the rooftop and throwing it onto the ground. In a further display of disrespect, the boy tears down some posters that were displayed in the building.
The most astonishing aspect of this incident is that it unfolded in front of a large crowd, yet no one stepped in to prevent the child from carrying out this reprehensible act. Such disregard for national symbols has deeply disappointed citizens across the country.
