India’s Anganwadi and Health Workers Enable Administration of 200 Crore COVID-19 Vaccines: PM Modi

India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, praised the efforts of anganwadi, ASHA, and health workers for their vital role in administering 200 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccines. In his Independence Day address from the Red Fort, Modi highlighted the global admiration for India’s massive vaccination program.

Modi emphasized that the coronavirus crisis showcased India’s potential and its human-centric approach to development. While other countries faced disruptions in their supply chains, India advocated for a people-first strategy to ensure progress worldwide. The pandemic taught the world the importance of a holistic healthcare approach, leading Modi’s government to establish a dedicated Ayush department. Today, Ayush and yoga are gaining international recognition, symbolizing India’s commitment to a human-centric approach.

India has emerged as a vishwa mitra or a friend of the world in the post-COVID-19 era, according to Modi. The country advocated for the One Earth, One Health approach after the pandemic, emphasizing the equal addressing of diseases in humans, animals, and plants.

Addressing healthcare coverage, Modi stated that his government has invested ₹70,000 crore in the Ayushman Bharat scheme to provide BPL families with ₹5 lakh annual health guarantee. This significant step aims to improve universal health coverage in the country.

In line with the vision of One Earth, One Health and One Future, Modi highlighted the impact of Jan Aushadhi Kendras in providing affordable generic medicines to the middle class. With savings of ₹20,000 crore, these centers have empowered the middle-class population. The government’s goal is to increase the number of Jan Aushadhi Kendras from the current 10,000 to 25,000 in the coming days.

The Independence Day celebration at the Red Fort welcomed special guests, including fifty nurses and their families from across India. They represented the healthcare frontline workers who have been instrumental in India’s fight against COVID-19. In total, 1,800 special guests from various fields attended the event to witness the national celebration.

Prime Minister Modi’s address demonstrated India’s commitment to a human-centric approach to development and healthcare. The nation’s efforts in combating the pandemic and the successful administration of 200 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have garnered global recognition. India’s dedication to improving universal health coverage and making affordable medicines accessible to all are crucial steps toward a healthier and more prosperous future.
