Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) Enhances Broadcast Innovations, Amokachi to Lead Team of the Month Selection Committee
The Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) is gearing up for an exciting start to the upcoming 2023/24 season, and the organizers, stakeholders, and fans are applauding the league’s broadcast partners, Propel Sports Africa, for their innovative approach to broadcasting the championship. As the league aims to elevate the quality of play and create aspirational value for players and coaches, former Super Eagles star Daniel Amokachi will lead a nine-man technical committee tasked with selecting a monthly NPFL Team of the Month.
One of the major contributors to the success of the league’s broadcast is GTI Asset Management & Trust Limited, NPFL’s strategic partner. They have commended Propel Sports Africa for their commitment to introducing cutting-edge innovations to the live streaming of NPFL matches. In particular, they have praised the training provided by Propel Sports Africa to young Nigerian cameramen who will operate the AI cameras used for the live streaming of matches across the country. This is a significant step forward for the NPFL, as it ensures that fans can enjoy high-quality broadcasts of the matches.
GTI’s Head of Media and Publicity, Andrew Ekejiuba, expressed his delight with the progress made by Propel Sports Africa. He emphasized that the training of the cameramen commenced in Lagos on August 5, 2023, and extended to various venues nationwide. GTI is committed to working closely with the newly inaugurated board of the Nigeria Premier League (NPL), headed by Gbenga Elegbeleye, to ensure the successful execution of the upcoming season.
Nelson Ine, Executive Director of GTI and project director of The Nigeria Football Fund (TNFF), called on all stakeholders to join forces in uplifting the NPFL. He stressed the importance of repositioning the league to ensure it ranks among the best globally. GTI is ready to contribute more to the success of the NPFL and encouraged corporate entities and individuals to invest in the league, creating a brighter future for young football talents.
In terms of on-field recognition, the NPFL has established a committee responsible for selecting a monthly NPFL Team of the Month. Led by Daniel Amokachi, the committee will choose 11 players and a coach for the team, with additional reserves to complete a squad of 18. This initiative aims to raise the quality of play and incentivize coaches to devise innovative game plans. The NPFL Chairman, Gbenga Elegbeleye, explained that players will strive to make the team, with both individual and collective benefits to be gained from this recognition.
The committee members include respected journalists Mitchel Obi, Segun Agbede, and Deji Omotoyinbo, as well as NFF Technical Director Austin Eguavoen, Coach Manu Garba, Harrison Jalla, Coach Godwin Uwuah, and former director of the defunct NPFL side MFN, Davidson Adejuwon. These committee members have been invited to the 2023/24 season draws, which will take place on Thursday in Lagos.
