Lagos State Commissioner of Police Decorates 1,400 Newly-Promoted Officers
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa, recently held a decoration ceremony at the command headquarters in Ikeja, where he adorned 1,400 newly-promoted police officers with their new ranks.
During the event, CP Idowu Owohunwa extended his congratulations to the newly-promoted officers and urged them to exhibit utmost dedication and commitment in the execution of their duties. He emphasized that nothing motivates police officers more than receiving well-deserved promotions.
As a leader, there is no greater honor for me than overseeing the promotion of my officers who have consistently demonstrated professional excellence, maintained good service records, and displayed moral strength in the discharge of their duties, he stated.
The Commissioner of Police expressed his privilege in inducting the 1,400 inspectors to the officer cadet, as well as to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP). He emphasized the significance of this promotion, as it ultimately signifies their transition to the decision-making cadre of the Nigeria Police Force.
In light of recent changes in the promotion system, CP Idowu Owohunwa highlighted that merit and seniority would now serve as the basis for promotions. The newly-promoted officers were commended for their hard work and reminded that their achievements were attained through their own merit.
He encouraged the officers to recognize their promotions as important milestones in their careers, accompanied by new challenges and responsibilities. CP Idowu Owohunwa urged them to uphold their core values and not let their newfound positions lead to any unethical conduct.
